and many other facial plastic surgery procedures Facelift (Rhytidectomy): Also known as rhytidectomy, a facelift is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck. Dr. Bennett performs many different types of face and necklifts and customizes a procedure for each patient to achieve a natural, long lasting result with the most rapid recovery possible. As we age, muscles become loose and drop underneath the skin. Dr. Bennett’s lift differs because it addresses the deeper tissue by going under the muscle and sliding it backwards into its youthful position. This technique results in less bruising and swelling since he lifts beneath the muscle. Skin heals better because there is no tension on superficial layers, resulting in a natural, softer look and creating definition along the jaw line and neck, not tightness. Dr. Bennett takes special care to hide incisions within the ear to permit wearing hair up after surgery. He also performs other types of facelifts for younger patients with lesser degrees of aging. Most patients are able to resume their normal routines within 7-10 days after surgery. >>back to top Nasal Reshaping Surgery (Rhinoplasty): Rhinoplasty is a type of cosmetic surgery that is performed in order to reshape the nose. Although rhinoplasty is sought most often for cosmetic reasons, it can also help correct structural defects that may cause breathing problems. Also referred to as a “nose job” or “nasal reshaping surgery”, rhinoplasty is a very popular procedure that can make profound differences not only in the balance of facial features, but also in a person’s self-esteem. Dr. Bennett uses the most advanced surgical techniques to make aesthetic improvements that include decreasing, increasing or reshaping the size of the nose, altering the tip or bridge of the nose, and narrowing or changing the shape of the nostrils. Additionally, he can remove a bump, change the angle between the nose and the mouth, as well as correct injuries or other concerns that affect breathing, such as a deviated nasal septum or a sinus condition. The ability to breath comfortably can promote a better night’s sleep and is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Bennett treats many patients referred by other surgeons with complex breathing issues or when previous surgery has uncovered breathing concerns of which the patients were not previously aware. He is well known for his revision rhinoplasty method which restores the patients’ ability to breathe in addition to improving nasal appearance by rebuilding previously removed cartilage or bone. Dr. Bennett employs both the advanced open (external) and closed (endonasal) surgical techniques to sculpt an attractive and natural appearing nose with rapid recovery. When performing a Rhinoplasty, emphasis is placed on the preservation of nasal breathing and structural support. These concepts are the basis for an excellent long-term outcome. Rhinoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure that lasts one to two hours. Dr. Bennett's techniques minimize the recovery and allow most patients to return to a normal routine the week after surgery. >>back to top Functional Nasal Surgery: Functional nasal surgery can dramatically improve your quality of life and sense of well-being. Blockages within the nose may cause sinusitis, a condition in which the sinuses swell and become clogged, causing pain and impaired breathing. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery is an option for patients when other medical treatments have failed. Endoscopic sinus surgery is a procedure used to remove blockages in the sinuses (the small passages needed for healthy sinus function). Over the past decade, the advancement of endoscopic sinus surgery using minimally invasive microinstruments to restore the natural drainage of the sinuses, has resulted in more effective and better tolerated sinonasal surgery. Computed tomography (CT) scanning in the management of sinusitis has led to more precise localization of sinus anomalies. Dr. Bennett may also use 3-dimensional imaging during the procedure to provide an additional layer of safety and thoroughness. These advances have given many patients the option to safely combine the endoscopic surgery with the traditional rhinoplasty. With Dr. Bennett’s advanced sinus techniques, placement of packing within the nose and the associated discomfort is rarely needed. This improves the overall experience in the recovery period and contributes to a more rapid recovery. Patients are typically back to normal activity in 7-10 days. >>back to top Neck Liposuction: Liposuction, which is also known as lipoplasty, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures. Localized fat deposits may develop over time in the neck and cheeks. These deposits usually persist in spite of proper diet and exercise. Often this is hereditary or may be due to weight loss. Neck liposuction can be performed to remove this fat, reducing a double chin and providing a smoother, sleeker facial contour. When needed, this can be improved with platysmaplasty, tightening of the tissue directly under the chin. The procedure is done on an outpatient basis. Patients are typically back to normal activity in 7-10 days. >>back to top Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty): Also known as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery improves the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, and gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested, alert and youthful. As we age, the upper and lower eyes develop loose skin and excess fat that creates puffiness. Dr. Bennett favors minimally invasive techniques to remove excess skin and fat and rejuvenate the upper and lower lids. This may be performed for cosmetic reasons or to improve sight by lifting droopy eyelids out of the patient's field of vision. Blepharoplasty can be combined with a facelift or BOTOX® treatments to raise the eyebrows or reduce the appearance of wrinkles, crow’s feet or dark circles under the eyes. Most patients are able to return to normal activity within one week. >>back to top Endoscopic Brow-Lifting: Also known as a forehead lift, a brow lift minimizes the creases that develop across the forehead and above the nose. It improves what are commonly referred to as “frown lines”, repositions a heavy brow, and lifts the extra skin on the outside upper corners of the eyes. Dr. Bennett performs many types of browlifts to create a more youthful appearance of the eyes. Browlifts can also revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Using either traditional or minimally invasive (endoscopic) methods, the muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows. The procedure is often combined with other operations such as blepharoplasty and facelifts to improve the look of the eyes and other areas of the face. Most patients are able to return to normal activity within 7-10 days. >>back to top Laser Skin Resurfacing: One of the most popular anti-aging remedies is laser skin resurfacing, which improves the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles, scars and hyperpigmentation (discolored areas of the skin), primarily around the eyes and mouth. It can also be used to treat large areas of the face. Dr. Bennett uses the Fractionated CO2 Laser Technology, which is the latest rapid recovery laser for wrinkles, sun spots, discoloration, and skin tightening. Fractionated CO2 technology differs from the original Fraxel® laser because it is a single treatment that delivers more dramatic results than non-ablative lasers. It offers significant improvement over traditional carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers because there is no prolonged recovery or redness. This laser may be used on all skin types. Results are reduced lines, wrinkles, sun damage, brown spots, acne scars and improved tone, texture and skin tightening. Laser skin resurfacing may be combined with a facelift, eyelift, rhinoplasty, or browlift, or it may be performed as a separate procedure. Recovery time is usually 1 week. >>back to top Ear Surgery (Otoplasty): Otoplasty corrects the size or placement of an individual’s ears. Otoplasty is generally performed on children ages of 6-14, as the ears finish growing by six. The procedure is also commonly sought after as a deterrent for adolescent ridicule. Additionally, the procedure can be performed on adults and makes the ears more proportional to the size and shape of the head and face which can greatly enhance a person’s appearance and self-esteem. >>back to top BOTOX® Cosmetic, Restylane and Juvederm: As time passes, our skin shows the natural, inevitable signs of aging – wrinkles, sagging, and sun damage. You can counteract those effects with several non-surgical cosmetic procedures available at our practice. BOTOX® Cosmetic, or botulinum toxin type A, is a protein commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow's feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. BOTOX® injections relax muscles to decrease wrinkles and give the face a rejuvenated look. RESTYLANE and JUVEDERM are designed to smooth wrinkles, sculpt lips and shape facial contours. They are both clear gels composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found throughout your body. The most common areas for treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the side of the nose to the angle of your mouth). With its unique ability to bind with water, RESTYLANE remains in your skin for many months. >>back to top |
