GHI (Group Health Incorporated) was established in 1937 as a non-profit health cooperative. The insurance is a non-profit company which provides health care to those Americans who teach our children, protect our country, and provide services to our community.
GHI is run by EmblemHealth which is now the largest non-profit insurance company in the state of New York, with over 3.1 million members.
GHI continues to have relatively low co-payments for medication and office visits. However, it seems that over time, benefits continue to decrease and patients find it difficult to find a qualified physician who not only takes their insurance, but also connects with them. Finding a surgical specialist may prove to be even more difficult. In 2017, GHI changed their surgical review policy which has added up to 2 weeks time for approval of clinically indicated sinusitis and deviated nasal septum correction procedures.
Our office will work with your insurance to help you get the most from your benefits. As an out-of-network provider, we realize that patients have financial hardships and will do our best to make your procedure affordable. We don’t believe that those who serve our community and teach our children should be forced to go into debt in order to receive the care they deserve.
Navigating the maze of health-care is extremely challenging and dealing with the complexities of insurance paperwork can seem like an impossible web to untangle. Our highly skilled insurance staff will check your benefits for you and describe your benefits to you in detail. We can’t work with HMOs but have had great patient experiences with the other GHI insurances. Contact our office if you would like an evaluation for your nasal surgery procedure.
